Paranormal

Coyote shape shifter Sheena is mistaken for a stray dog by Austin’s younger brother, Todd. Austin bathes her and locks her up to dry. Moments later, Todd tells Austin a fantastic tale – the dog turned into a naked woman who jumped out the window then turned back into a dog. Austin doesn’t believe until they find the footprints which change from human to canine. Bent on capturing Sheena, Austin tracks her to Maria, New Mexico where she is on a mission to warn rival shifter, Blue, of their fathers’ plot against him. But Austin starts falling for Sheena. Will love find a way to unite human and shifter?

“The Coyote’s Cowboy” has some remarkable aspects. It is an innovative idea to have a character with ADHD. This gives Austin depth and a character flaw endearing him to the reader. Sheena has a scattered personality from years of berating by her father, Bruno.

There is not enough dialogue for us to really examine Austin’s and Sheena’s relationship. The remainder of the characters lack depth, and, although a force to be reckoned with, Bruno never comes into play. A good story but the premise has been used before – there is going to be a pack war, and someone needs to warn the other pack.  This story does a great job delving into the minds of both Sheena and Austin, letting the reader know where they are coming from. An unusual story, “The Coyote’s Cowboy” is well worth the read.
