VICTORIAN:  Theo, Georgie, Adeline, and Josie have been friends for years and are together now to celebrate Adeline’s upcoming marriage. Their alliance came about because of their shared love of archery and they decide to enjoy a turkey hunt, but it is cut short when Josie’s arrow lands in a handsome stranger’s shoulder rather than her mark. She vows to care for his wound and in the process strong feelings are created, and societal lines  are being toed. With fear, love, and worry driving him away Josie must choose if she will follow her heart and act or follow society’s standards.

"Josephine" is a quick, fun, light-hearted stroll with characters that almost seem real in their set of idiosyncrasies. Sadly, this story possesses a predictable plot and a forgettable storyline, relegating both the reader and those in the book to feeling emotionally stunted, though it does make the reader smile knowing it has a happy ending. However, the individual conflict each is experiencing is clearly defined and the backstory for each character only enhances the “why” behind their decisions. It does not have much meat to entice the reader to want to hold on when it is finished, but it is perfect for a sweet afternoon break.
