Lord of Deception (Trysts and Treachery Book One)

Alys is forced to live with her cousin who hates her, so she wants nothing more than to get away. When she meets a nobleman who has been banished from the Queen’s court, she knows she should not become involved with him, and yet, she cannot resist. When she helps him foil a plot against Queen Elizabeth, she knows that danger is on their heels. Kit Ludlow has been banished and finds the woman he has met truly irresistible. He wants to keep her away from the dangerous mission he has undertaken, but she comes along for the ride. Their feelings will grow strong as they fight to save the crown and stay alive. 

An excellent mystery with an enticing romance to boot. What more could readers ask for? There are a variety of well-portrayed characters in this novel with excellent development arcs who keep the story moving. Some parts of the book would have benefited from more thorough description, however, the exciting plot and clever storyline make up for this. Elizabeth Keysian has done her research well when it comes to the Tudor era, and the story’s dialogue and settings demonstrate this. “Lord of Deception” is a fantastic beginning to the Trysts and Treachery series. It will be interesting to read the remaining books in the series. Not to be missed and certainly to be enjoyed!
