Followers of this series will recognize Logan, the hero in this story, as he was a character in the previous books. Logan runs across Rhoswen, an English Lady, and her “servants”, who are her younger siblings in disguise, after her father and their soldiers are brutally murdered and robbed on their way to the Highlands. They are on their way to barter for her nephew, the baby her sister delivered before she died. Logan takes them to his clan, and faces the hard decision of helping them retrieve Rhoswen’s nephew from who he soon learns is his arch-enemy, or letting them go… but they have no home to return to after Rhoswen learns of the treachery and deceit of her father. Logan and Rhoswen are drawn to each other, but their differences may be insurmountable!

A delightful tale that takes the reader on a romp through the Scottish Highlands, where hotties in kilts abound, and humor adds a delightful element. Logan is an interesting character, blaming himself for a past mistake that caused his clan grief, so he’s forever punishing himself for it. Rhoswen is an anomaly of an English lady, as she is skilled in swordsmanship and isn’t afraid to stand toe-to-toe with the burly highlanders. The sparks between the two sizzle off the pages, both in and out of bed. There are also several delightful twists towards the end of the book that will bring a smile to any reader’s face. A thoroughly enjoyable trip to fourteenth century Scotland!
