Although the plot is predictable, the secret affair is a scorching, covert operation that needs to be kept hush-hush. Readers may experience a little exasperation about not knowing the full back stories about secondary characters used to drive the plot. Readers will be taken on a wild ride with two characters who cannot deny their forbidden attraction. The dramatic rush of danger including a plot twist delivers just the right amount of fast-paced action to bring readers to the edge of their seats. Ms. Michaels’ fifth installment of this heroic series reads well as a stand-alone novel filled with a bit of sorrow, some breath stealing love scenes, jolts of adrenaline, and the satisfaction of a story well told.
