Trina Ryan has decided, even after the painful goodbye said to her last dog, to take on another service dog to train. This one, much younger — an 8-week old black lady-puppy named Colton. Trina is a huge animal lover, but she hadn't realized how much work and time a young puppy takes. Nevertheless, she forges on, does her duty and her best to make Colton the best service dog she can.

Unbeknownst to Rayne, the college she chose is in a town full of demons, satanic worshipers, and witches of all kinds.

When her estranged uncle whisks her away to Hood Academy, where he is director, she thinks it is the answer to her prayers. Hood is a school for werewolf hunters and Mia fits right in.
The community of Monrovia in Los Angeles County is relatively quiet. It has finally moved on from the Manson family murders, and crime is now virtually unheard of — that is, until three girls vanish with only notes left behind. The police department is baffled and worried that more people will disappear. They call on the Wildcat Crew, a group of aspiring teenage sleuths, for help.
