PARANORMAL:  “Star Catcher” is a story about finding true love and fighting to keep it. The main characters – Kellen and Cali – have to overcome insurmountable odds in order to claim their birthrights and live happily ever after. Set in two universes, this fast-paced tale takes you through battles, the discovery of a prophecy, and journeys of self-discovery. For any young hero this would be a lot to handle, but with moments of soul-searching and the help of those who love him, Kellen chooses his path, claims his destiny, and finds his princess.

Author Stephanie Keyes is gifted in her ability to craft entire environments through vivid description and flawless word choice. Getting lost in the hills of Ireland or a stark white world was magikcal. However, the jumping around from point-of-view to point-of-view left this reader confused and at times frustrated. Because “Star Catcher” is part of a series, the reader must prepare themselves for the feeling of being in limbo with some of the characters – the backstories, flashbacks, and revolving viewpoints muddled what could have been a wonderful experience if the books had been read in sequential order. If pinball prose sounds like a page-turner, then this reviewer encourages one to try out this novel. The word choice and descriptions, as well as the all-consuming love between Cali and Kellen will keep a reader turning the pages. Though there were challenges with “Star Catcher” the gifted writing of Stephanie Keyes makes the challenge ultimately doable.
