PARANORMAL:  Salem Miller, Goth outcast and younger sister to the amazing Amy Miller, thinks her love spell failed. She’s struggling to revive a damaged grimoire to find a cure for her sister, and then Aidan Cooper arrives at school. Aidan is in hiding. Stuck pretending to be someone he’s not and under the thumb of some magic wielding kidnappers, Aidan wants to find the grimoire to destroy it. He never expects to find Salem, but when he does, can he protect her and keep the grimoire out of the hands of his captors at the same time or will time run out?

A fantastic YA paranormal read, reminiscent of the film “Practical Magic”!  “Spell Struck” combines quirky but fun teen characters dealing with new schools, romance, and family problems, with magic, and more serious topics like suicide and kidnapping. The romance is steady and although it involves a bit of love at first sight it builds on similarities and shared interests, not just physical attraction which is the norm for many romances. Although the plot is not overly complex, the emotions and connections are quick and solid throughout the story. Readers who haven’t read the first book “Spell Check” will want to go back and read it, just to enjoy more of Salem and her fun friends. Any reader who enjoys YA paranormal should definitely add “Spell Struck” to their list!
