Celeste Garret’s life has not improved at all since she became the Conduit. If anything, it’s ten times more problematic! Superpowers are not so cool when they come with overwhelming weirdness, danger to all around you and the possibility that every boy that likes you might be a murder-bent demon who’s part of the Dark Army. Readers can see for themselves from these examples:

True that. Being a superhero is not nearly as cool when you have two beloved but annoying siblings getting their superpowers too. But, That may yet turn out to be a good thing, because the Garret family will need everything at its disposal. Including:
Gabe, the fearsome man/kitty cat lion
Maggie Reynolds's first day of her junior year in high school was not what she had expected. She had slept in late and her stomach gnawed at her. Arriving at school, however, she sees her boyfriend Justin Davis, making her feel much better. She is so lucky to be going out with the most popular boy in school!
Kaitlyn, who is left unnamed in the story until well into Chapter 3, lives with her parents. She has a daughter, Jeanie and an abusive ex-husband that the reader never meets. Kaitlyn dates Jeremy Brown until he simply disappears without a trace - not even his parents know how to find him. Life has not been kind.
Sam is a sentinal - a guardian angel of sorts, assigned to protect and help people through their “cycle” on earth while he learns and grows in the heavenly realm.
