Beneath the Twin Moons of Haldae

ISBN Number:
Young Adult

Trainee observer Zaren was not supposed to set foot on the fifth planet of system 59, and never contact the indigenous population. But when her shuttle crashes and she is ejected away from it; she has to somehow travel across a heavily forested planet to find the vehicle and finds herself needing help.

Kris has been sent by the Elders of his village on a solo journey into the woods to determine the final and only animal shape he will shift into as an adult. If he doesn’t succeed he can’t return as a man to care for his gravely ill sister. Neither of the two planned to meet but in doing so, both find the help they need, and maybe love?

Fans of shape shifters and space exploration will love this original mix of paranormal romance and sci-fi. The Zaren and Kris are wonderful characters that readers will quickly root for while still gripping their books in anticipation as events unfold around the duo and both their societies threaten to separate them. Written with alternating point of views and progressing as a retelling while both explain through flashbacks how they met. Although normally such a style is confusing to a reader, Yseult successfully blends both their stories without losing the reader in the process. The only downside being that readers will finish the book wishing for just one more chapter!
