PARANORMAL/SUSPENSE/THRILLER:  The life of Patience has never been easy. Her father is an abusive alcoholic and her mother is the one enabling his behavior. Her mother is miserable without her husband and blames Patience for making him go away. As a result, Patience is left pretty much on her own.

The storyline is imaginative and provides a new spin on the basic paranormal romance. The author builds a world centered on an Indian reservation and weaves tribal traditions, paranormal shape shifting and contemporary romance into one. The love triangle between Patience, Saul, and Ifan will have readers torn between which of the two men she should choose. The author does a good job developing the character of the Beast. He is downright frightening and oozes evil.

The reader may find the book hard to follow as it is not divided into chapters. The author does separate the point of view by providing the character’s name before their section of dialogue, but the story is still hard to follow. This may cause frustration for the reader. There is a lot of blood in this book, as well as strong language. Beware if one is squeamish about either. The author’s development of characters shows a real desire to show those tribal traditions that are held dear. The reader can feel the conflict in the main characters as they build lives that will give them the best of both worlds.
