Love’s Last Kiss (A Deadly Force Standalone Novel)

Genre:
Suspense-Thriller

Rose Guthrie is an exotic dancer, trying to make money for her little brother who is in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant. After their parents' death, Rose is the only one who can take care of him. She is propositioned to deliver a mysterious box to an even more mysterious buyer. She agrees to do so in order to hopefully earn enough money to pay for her brother’s procedure. However, the box and the seller suddenly disappear. In her attempts to locate both, she runs into an ex-Army Ranger, Kade Dolan. Although Rose does not trust this handsome man who has suddenly appeared in her life, he tries to help her locate the box. Little does she know that Kade has quite a few secrets of his own, and it could mean life or death for her.

“Love’s Last Kiss”, while an interesting premise, is very difficult to follow. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, and the idea that this book could be read as a standalone seems unrealistic. The characters themselves are not very memorable. They are, however, relatable in some ways. The story itself is very long-winded, and could have probably been shortened in its length, while still preserving a solid plot. In speaking of the plot, it is unique and compelling, but it does come across as far-fetched. Overall, Ms. Wray’s writing is good, and there are some plot twists within the story that are unexpected, but not incredibly surprising.
