When Tris is being hunted by his own family, he is rescued by Zestine. He is the son of a deity who has wings, while also having telepathic and telekinetic abilities. Zestine has the ability to change into any feline animal she wants. When Tris' people are changing their allegiances, he and Zestine are tasked to find out why. The plan is for them to pretend to be lovers while Tris appears to have gone to the side of darkness in order to figure out what is going on. Tris is struggling to hold onto his good side while being surrounded by darkness and Zestine is doing everything she can to help him. As they continue with their mission, their feelings for one another grow stronger and it may just be the thing that pulls them out of the darkness and into the light. 

Despite being part of a series, this book can be read on its own and it should be. The imagination of P.C Stevens is fantastic; it’s on the page for readers to jump into a magical land, with warriors and fierce heroines who shall not be beaten while fighting for the side of good. With so many twists and turns, this is a page turner to the highest degree. There are some aspects that could have done with a little better explanation, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this is an awesome book and a series with a lot of potential. There are so many reasons that could be listed to read this book: the plot is engaging, exciting, and all in all, this one is hard to put down! Do not miss it!
