Gautier knows his relationship with Velsa has no future outside their roles as warlock and witch. Lacking the sign of soul mates, he searches for his true love and finds her in the form of a wolf. Kayleigh has been banished from her home in Fallon Castle after an attack by a werewolf changes her into one. Desperate to keep her other form secret, she is alarmed by the interest the warlock and brother to the local lord shows in her. Yet, as Gautier pursues her, she finds peace with the one man untroubled by her wolf half. Enraged by Gautier’s abandonment, Velsa turns on the kingdom and her former lover. With a kingdom to defend, will Gautier and Kayleigh fall prey to Velsa’s anger or will true love conquer all?

The prequel to the fantasy “Evergreen” series, “Trapped Alone” sets the stage for a world of warlocks, witches, fairies, griffins, vampires and more. As a prequel novel, some parts are really slow and others crammed full of information for later books; however, in and of itself the novel has a nice light romance with some quick-paced action, and tons of magic. Despite the somewhat awkward plot development (it seems to be two stories combined in one and necessary cliff hanger), “Trapped Alone” somehow captures the reader’s attention, and keeps them interested in the rest of the series. A good prequel story and introduction to the series.
