MYSTERY:  Cassie Black is a witch who has a problem with her magic…she can’t make it work right all the time. When her Great Aunt Ophelia dies suddenly, Cassie is chosen by her family to travel to the funeral and represent the family. Cassie takes her cat, Sid, with her. When Cassie rolls into town she gets in an accident with a policeman, meets a hunky warlock, an older witch who was friends with Ophelia, is present when her aunt’s lawyer is murdered by cookies, and she is caught with a gun in her car. Cassie then learns she has inherited everything of her Aunt’s, including a coffee shop called The Perfect Brew, and the curse that goes along with it.

This is a fun book to read! It is a fast-paced cozy mystery that provides humor, suspense, and a bit of romance. The lawman is tall, dark and handsome, and the warlock is hot and sexy. Cassie handles both men with poise and humor. Sid the cat is laugh-out-loud funny. The author really brings Sid’s characteristics as Cassie’s familiar out in full force, which only adds to this creative story. The author does pack a lot of action, romance, and murder into a very short period. There is almost too much going on, which may pull the reader from the story in order to process what is actually happening. The story ends with the possibility of future romance and more mystery to come.
