She cherishes their past, and rejects any attempts to date.  But her husband is looking on, and devises a plan to match Melody up with a new man and the hope of a loving husband and family. He has until Christmas Eve, and his plan includes pretending to be someone else - Oliver, someone Melody would never be attracted to. As Oliver, he  gains her friendship, yet it becomes harder to let go of Melody - even though he knows it the right thing to do.

“If You Believe” is a heartfelt contemporary romance with a nice touch of the paranormal.  It’s disappointing that the author never explains how Jack has been able to come back to earth or his mysterious powers.  Some parts were laugh-out-loud funny, such as Oliver’s last name being Oliver as well, and his failed attempts at matchmaking.  At the heart is a story that will touch readers emotionally as Melody struggles to let go of her husband. Anyone acquainted with the grief of losing a loved one will empathize with her. Her logical understanding that she needs to go on with her life, although her heart and emotions aren’t necessarily ready, adds poignancy. Despite pacing issues—some parts drag and others go by too quickly, and the lack of explanation of how Jack was back from the dead, “If You Believe” is a book that will engage and entertain readers.
