Siobhan Orsini has always seen things others couldn’t, and years of therapists tried and failed to prove or convince her otherwise. She can see the truth of everything, which means that Siobhan has known there was a dragon in her garden since she was a child. However, she never suspected that her unusual ability would land her in the middle of an ancient battle in which her position as Watcher would determine the course of the world while dragons, fallen angels, demon lords, seers, and Valkyrie fought around her. With her brother and ex-boyfriend in tow, Siobhan will need all the friends she can get if she’s going to make her choice.

A light fantasy novel involving every kind of magical creature, “The Dragon in the Garden” is the first of “The Watcher Rising” series, and packs a punch. In addition to the magical war going on around Siobhan, there is also quite a bit of romance with Siobhan and two men vying for her attentions. Romance is also blooming between her brother and another character which readers will hope becomes book two. On the other hand, the plot flows well with a few minor twists to add to the predictability. Siobhan herself comes off as young and easily led, making her a weak main character. Further, the conflict lacks tension. Still, this is a great story for lovers of dragons or hot fallen angels, making this a good book to add to any to-read list.
