Bound by Blood

Beth is a vampire bound by blood and by the men in her life. She married Phillippe, but her heart belongs to Amon, who fell under a spell and has been on the missing vampire’s list for five years. With vampire hunters intent on cleansing London, Beth and her friends must not only fight for their survival, but search for those responsible for Amon’s imprisonment.

“Bound by Blood” flows with the intense and macabre lifestyle of the undead.  The unimportance of human life, except for the purpose of feeding vampires, draws a reader into Beth’s world. The storyline begins in the middle with a quick (but incomplete) summary of the key characters. Readers may not understand or accept that Beth treats her husband like sloppy seconds and reminds him every day that she loves Amon. When Amon appears, she dumps her husband like a hot potato. The flow of the plot is disjointed and the actions of the characters are off-kilter. The chilling and gritty world of vampirism is maintained throughout, but readers will not have success finding a character to cheer for. In an attempt to find the vampires responsible for Amon’s imprisonment and survive the hunters, the story picks up the pace. It’s highly suggested a reader purchase the previous book in order to understand the backstory. “Bound by Blood” is a short read and great for a quick journey into the paranormal.
