WOMEN'S FICTION:  When Lisa discovers that her late husband had a gambling addiction, she is at a loss at what to do. How will she survive financially? She has been a stay-at-home mom for years, raising her four children and has no work experience. When a friend suggests that she open up her home as a bed and breakfast, she is unsure but ready to take the risk. Her children are skeptical but are willing to support her. Kristen is an artist struggling in her relationship with a man who won’t divorce his wife. Kate is a writer, who just lost her job and caught her fiancé cheating. Abby is pregnant but her marriage is floundering. Then there is laid-back Chase, just cruising through life. Their lives are changing but they will get through it together.

This lovely story about the Hodges family feels like a vacation! The scenery description of Nantucket will make readers want to pack their bags immediately. The focus of family is also heartwarming. Despite the slow pace, the book has its charms. The family faces relatable struggles and all yearn for love and success. Unfortunately, the characters are a bit one-dimensional. Although their backstories feel very rushed, they have potential. They could use a little more depth, especially Lisa, who seems to lack emotion. However, this is the first book in the series and is laying the groundwork for delightful stories to come. Readers will end the book wanting to know more about this family and the guests that come to the Beach Plum Cove Inn. Overall, this is a fabulous book to read on a blanket at the beach!
