Seeking a diversion, librarian Deborah Strong signs up for a conference on the history and future of libraries to get some ideas for her small town, and to enjoy the lovely New Hampshire setting. Her research project for the week leads her to examine connections between a misprinted Bible, and a letter written to a little-known nineteenth-century author.

Marla is a hairstylist busy with her salon and baby Ryder. When her mom, Anita, calls because a dead body was found in her shower during a remodel, Marla gets pulled into sleuthing. Marla’s husband, Dalton, is a homicide detective willing to help with what he can, but it isn’t his case.

Bryn Baczek, a consultant living on a houseboat in Seattle, is up late one night when she overhears a heated argument on a neighbor's boat, followed by silence and then a loud splash! What follows is a missing woman, some scuba diving in the middle of the night, an interesting sculpture, a non-profit organization with some possible embezzlement, and a compelling investigation.
