Mojo for Murder: A Bertie Bigelow Mystery (The Bertie Bigelow Mysteries) (Volume 2)

Carolyn
Wilkins
Genre:
Mystery

On the South side of Chicago Charley Howard is known as the Hot Sauce King, and he's raging mad. There's a hex on him, and his wife Mabel is being duped by a phony Jamaican psychic. He needs to prove the psychic is a fraud, and with Bertie Bigelow's help he just might prove it.  Bertie Bigelow is choir director at Metro College and has all the drama she could handle right about now - rapper "The Ace of Spades" is set to perform and her students are preparing for the concert, some flirtatious males and the Chicago Zoning Commissioner are in the ER after eating at Charley's and she's forced to take action.

This fast-paced story will leave the reader engrossed not able to put the book down till it's done! With lots of intriguing and colorful secondary characters, a dash of romance and murderous intentions “Mojo for Murder” is a titillating read. It is made even more intriguing with Bertie's overwhelming choices. Carolyn Wilkins weaves her stories with complex characters and an intense plot of murder that will remind one of Agatha Christie whodunits. The elements of mystery will definitely keep one guessing. The only drawback is that although Bertie is still attractive to the men fleeting in and out of her life, she still finds herself with no romantic interest by story's end. It would surely have made the story more complete, but perhaps that's just one way for the author to add some sizzle in the next book....
