Dani O’Rourke is doing a favor for her boss by evaluating a large art endowment to a small college. The moment she gets into town, however, key people to the endowment start dying. Dani finds discrepancies and some alarming details regarding the donor, and the deeper she digs, the more she finds herself embroiled in a deadly cat and mouse game. Can she flush out the killer without putting her own life in jeopardy?

This is a smart mystery with a lot of twists and turns. Nothing about this plot is predictable, and while the pacing sometimes gets bogged down in details, the well-read mystery lover will enjoy the untangling of suspects and motives. It is the third book in the series and the reader will be confused at references to Dani’s previous encounters with murder, but the story does stand on its own. Dani is a memorable character who isn’t a damsel in distress, but has no shortage of men willing to come to her aid, including a likable ex-husband and a cop who has boyfriend potential. She is a professional woman who is confident in her career, yet has a past that sometimes comes back to bite her, which makes for an irresistible combination to be at the center of a murder investigation. "Mixed up with Murder" is a rich, satisfying whodunit that will keep you guessing and turning pages to find out what happens next.
