Circle of Secrets

At first glance, Marissa and Helen seem to have nothing in common. Helen is an older woman, a grandmother, who enjoys spending Mother’s Day with her grandchildren, and who works part time at a local hospital. When her ill father reveals a secret about her past, she sets off on a mission to find the one thing she seems to have longed for her entire life.

Then there’s Marissa, in her thirties, a single parent raising a beautiful daughter named Sophia. Marissa struggles with severe health issues, and she too discovers some secrets, and sets off on a mission of her own. As the two women connect through secrets of the past, they struggle to find out the truth before it’s too late.

With the ability to make readers go through various emotions, from happiness to sadness to anger to hopeful, author Lauren Tisdale crafts an engaging story about how ghosts of the past can catch up with you, and about the consequences of keeping secrets. Both Marissa and Helen are strong, capable, independent women, with their own set of struggles and their own reasons for doing what they do. Some scenes are emotional enough to bring the reader to the verge of tears, and not feeling invested in these characters is almost impossible.
