A Very Highland Holiday

Jennifer Ashley, Tanya Anne Crosby, Kathryn Le Veque,

Genre:
Historical

After a disastrous Scottish defeat at Culloden, with heavy losses on both sides suffered, it does not feel much like Christmas in the snowy Highlands. Even though the conflict occurred eight months ago, both the land and its people still bear the scars. Despite this, Balthazar’s Inn is as busy as ever with unique individuals traveling through. While each one has their own reasons for making their journey, they are all tied to the inn and the dreadful battle, bringing their own stories of sorrow, forgiveness, and the true spirit of the holidays.

A truly enchanting collection from some of the most beloved authors of the genre, “A Very Highland Holiday” is an absolute must for fans this holiday season. Every entry may be written by a different author, but they all come across as a cohesive tapestry, lovingly woven together. While it is not necessary to read each one, a certain magic comes from the way they are linked together. That said, not everyone will enjoy every story. In Bryne’s story, the ghost spying on the heroine while she bathes may rub some readers the wrong way, particularly for how it is excused. Some of the stories also drag, feeling longer than they actually are. Often the narratives tend to focus on the world, character, and story development rather than the couples or their chemistry. Overall, there is something for every type of reader in this anthology, whether they favor mystery, paranormal, family, revenge, or personal growth and healing.
