“An Unwitting Alliance” opens with a particularly strong beginning, quickly cementing the characters firmly in the reader’s hearts. This second book in the Matchmaking Mamas series can be read as a standalone, however, reading book one first will make certain things clearer. Conflict is not as organic as possible, with misunderstandings usually at fault. Communication between Cassi and Tom could be poor to non-existent at times, creating further problems. Aside from those issues, Cassi is pleasant and sweet, and Tom is a fast thinker, able to wiggle out of any trouble with charm and wit. Together, they make great unwitting alliances. A fun read to spend an afternoon with!
