This oft-told tale of second chance love is an entertaining combination of Scottish history and romance. Although the second book in the “Conquered Bride Series, it stands alone; however, a better understanding can be achieved by reading the first book. Starting a little slowly as the necessary background is introduced, the reader is presented with a tale of intrigue, passion, and history. With engaging characters that are likeable and a plot that moves seamlessly, this love story has one turning the pages rapidly to get to the happily ever after. There are a few minor editing issues that are easily overlooked as the depth of the story draws the reader in. Romance lovers, as well as history lovers, will find this novel a welcome addition to their collection!
