Regency Christmas Kisses

Kathy L. Wheeler,
Amanda McCabe
Genre:
Historical

Ms. Wheeler and Ms. McCabe have written a series of tales beginning with “Snowbound Christmas” in which a wealthy widow and a famous artist find love in a Christmas blizzard; “Lady Felicity’s Feud with Christmas” where Lord Lexum needs Lady Felicity’s help preparing for the holidays, and he helps her in return; “A Partridge in a Pear Tree” in which a wealthy widow challenges her family to a scavenger hunt for the position as heir and matchmakes in the process; “Five Gold Rings” provides a bit of a scandal when the Viscount Weston’s bet to obtain five gold rings places him the crossroads with the most interesting debutant; Finally, “Nine Ladies Dancing” takes place a few years after “A Partridge in a Pear Tree” in which younger sisters Kitty and Jane are sure they know who they would suit best in marriage, but fate and the magic of Christmas might have other ideas in store.

Lovers of regency tales and Christmas romances will find many sigh-worthy moments in this sweet holiday collection. While the length and timing prevent much character growth or plot development, those who enjoy Hallmark-like reads will find plenty to enjoy. Each of the couples in this collection have moments of sweetness, some brief conflict, and a few cute twists. Although there are some repetitive conversations and many predictable moments, those looking for a lighter read, an introduction to either author, or more information on what happened to some of the side characters from their main series will find this book a good starting point, with a hint of steam to keep those craving a little more satisfied!
