Reckless Wager: A Whitechapel Wagers Novel #1

VICTORIAN:  Detective Sergeant Benjamin Quinn has just been suspended because he went too far with a suspect in the Jack the Ripper murders. Kate Guthrie is a widow who volunteers at a clinic in the Whitechapel section of London, lives with her brother and sister-in-law and fears remarrying because her first husband abused her. When Quinn and Kate meet, it isn’t love at first sight - at least that is what they keep telling themselves, but neither is able to forget about the other. So, when Ben is tasked with finding a woman that claims to have been attacked by Jack the Ripper, Kate insists she can be of some help to him. For a kiss they make a bargain. What they don’t realize is that one kiss seals their fates tighter than any wedding band ever could.

Christy Carlyle is a genius when it comes to historical romances! She is right on the money with the historical aspects but she also creates characters that are real, relatable, honest, and extremely likeable. Readers are caught up in a web of search and find, and with every turn of the page excitement builds. Will Kate find what she is looking for or will she be disappointed once more? The end is too far away but when it is over the reader wants it to continue on forever. Whether a sequel or a part of a series where character’s lives overlap is in the works, it can’t come too soon for most readers. “Reckless Wager” is the perfect all day read!
