VICTORIAN:  Michael Drury, Viscount Weston, has fought hard to regain the integrity of his family name. Now he seeks to settle a business arrangement, by the name of marriage. Love is not a factor he believes belongs in marriage, so he denies that his fiancée is a royal witch.

Emma Grisby, the niece of one of his professors, arrives on his doorstep seeking payment of a debt - one he doesn’t owe. However, out of the kindness of his heart, and the need to keep an eye on the Grisby family, he acquiesces. Emma’s arrival in his life changes everything from his ideas about love to his desire to catch the man who caused him and his friends harm.

Emma is used to hiding who she really is for her own protection. Forced to work to provide for her family after her uncle’s death, she seeks employment as a governess. Meeting with Michael again stirs up old memories she knows she must fight.

A delightfully gripping mystery lurks within this passionate romance novel that should not be ignored. A wayward uncle is a curious character that weaves in and out of the tale being told. Even more engaging is the passion that develops between the characters as they grow closer. Emma is a truly profound female for her era and the author portrays her wonderfully. Marriage is not just a business arrangement when all is said and done; it is an affair to remember.
