Blessing, or Buster, her preferred name, inherits her father’s ranch. She has one hundred horses the Army has agreed to buy from her father, but the quartermaster refuses to do business with a woman. Buster decides to have a horse auction, giving the town’s widows and children half the proceeds. The money will prevent the evil Mortimer Crane from evicting these widows.

REGENCY:  Rosamond is leaving a place she thought safe to seek safe haven from her cousin, Peter, who is her guardian. Peter is trying to kill Rosamond because he manages her trust and when she dies, he inherits the trust. She has taken on several identities. Now Rosamond decides to masquerade as a man while she hides until her next birthday when she comes of age and inherits.

Joe always looks out for Laura Beth. He doesn’t notice her as a young woman until Roger Willard buys her a soda. From then on, Laura is Joe’s girl. They plan to marry after Joe graduates from college, but his junior year, his mother, Dixie, gets sick with cancer and the money for school is spent on medical bills. Joe must work for a year to earn money to complete college.
