Lord of the Sky (The Executioner Knights #6)

Genre:
Historical

Juliandra has received word that her father has been taken prisoner by the new lord in the Welsh garrison. In order to ask for his release, she sneaks into the castle by saying that she is a singer, come to entertain the garrison at dinner. Kevin de Lara has taken over and is determined to make his own mark on the world after following in the footsteps of his brother and the other Executioner Knights. He wants to establish order, but is having trouble with the locals. He sees Juliandra as an opportunity to establish a connection with the locals. Unfortunately, when he discovers her true identity, he feels his only option is to marry her. He finds his heart is at stake as well as his new home.

Fall into the time of King John, the Crusades, and chivalrous knights in this wonderfully complex historical romance. While the first few chapters are a little slow, building up the storyline, readers must hang on because they will not want to put this down later. The historical detail is utterly fantastic, as it is with all Ms. Le Veque’s books. One feels completely immersed in the time period. However, the star of this book is the gloriously complex characters. Juliandra is willing to do anything for her father. Then there is Kevin, who hasn’t fully figured out what he wants out of life. He makes decisions and learns that every decision has great consequences. This book will keep readers on the edge of their seats, make them laugh, and also cry!
