Hyacinth: A Regency Romance Novella (Lost Lords Book 7)

Chastity

Genre:
Historical

When Lord Dumberton, Ian Blake, loses his wife, society can’t decide whether he is a murderer or whether he just failed to protect his depressed wife. Either way it has certainly put a tarnish on his reputation. Not that he cares. With no body ever discovered, Lord Dumberton has refused to declare her dead and have his marriage dissolved, even though the fact that she seems to be haunting him would definitely imply she would not be returning. When Ian’s aging spinster comes for a visit with the beautiful Hyacinth in tow, the search for the truth suddenly takes on a new urgency, especially when Hyacinth reveals she too has seen the ghost. Investigating the mystery seems like a good plan, but could the cost prove to be too high?

From the first page it is clear that this isn’t your typical regency romance! For a start, Hyacinth barely survives the trip to Lord Dumberton’s home, having to be rescued in heart-pounding fashion. Despite being a novella, this story is absolutely complete, and the added ghostly mystery creates new depths not often explored in this genre. Between well-meaning, meddling family members and in-laws whose motives are definitely not so genuine, the story is crafted in a way that keeps the reader interested, and the noted lack of actual Ton society functions makes for a pleasant change. The cleverly crafted narration surrounding the lost ex-wife is wrapped with a thrilling conclusion that readers won’t see coming and makes for an extremely satisfying read!
