Historical

Lady Grace Norrington is bored with the ton and its rules. She is nearly thirty and not a debutante anymore, but plans to be married to someone by her birthday. Luckily, her family is having a Valentine’s Day masquerade ball for both Grace and her twin sister, Patience. Everything is going according to plan until Grace’s father hires Mr. Harrison Conrad as the new butler. Harrison likes to strictly follow the rules, never breaking them, but Grace manages to turn his whole world upside down. The more Harrison attempts to do what is right and fight his attraction to Grace, the harder it gets to hide what he truly feels. Grace longs for Harrison to be with her, despite the vast difference between them which make their love completely implausible.

What a truly engaging and unique Regency romance! The love story of an upper-class girl falling for a lowly butler is told with originality and flair! The story moves at a great pace and is written altogether magnificently! The fully developed characters are filled with complex emotions that are not hard to understand. Grace does start off as a spoiled and selfish girl, but grows as the book progresses to become a much more agreeable, and even likable character. Harrison, the staid and unsmiling hero, seems impassive and unsympathetic at first, but he slowly shows his true self. Down deep, he really does care very much for others. He turns out to be a very compelling guy, definitely a great boyfriend! Ms. Sookoo is truly a master storyteller who captures her readers’ attention completely!
