Cassandra is a lady who lost both of her parents, and loves to collect fossils, yet she’s been banned from The Geological Society. Rothbury is an Earl and a geologist, who has been sent to check on Cassy by his mother, and bring her to town for the season. Both have sworn off marriage for different reasons; Cassy because she’s afraid, and tired of no one taking her work seriously, and Rothbury, because he was hurt in the past. When Cassy and Rothbury cross paths, neither counts on falling in love, but can they learn how to trust, and figure out who is threatening Cassy’s life so they can get their happily ever after?

“The Earl’s Lady Geologist” is an enchanting love story that will leave the reader feeling as if one is in a fairytale. The characters are cleverly crafted, and the reader will enjoy the bickering between Cassy and Rothbury as they slowly fall in love. One will enjoy watching Cassy slowly let down her guard as she attends all events for her season. Cassy’s emotions regarding certain family tragedies was described well by the author, and is incredibly touching. Cassy and Rothbury are very relatable and realistic, and the danger was an added element to the story that brings the couple closer together. Alissa Baxter did an excellent job in describing the time-period, the fossil collecting, and how women were treated during the time period. If you’re a fan of regency historical romances and are looking for a fun and serious story, “The Earl’s Lady Geologist” is a must read!
