Tanya Martin and Cal Simmons were best friends, but that all changed when Cal left town for the big leagues. Football is his passion but his family holds his heart. Determined to convince his mother to move to the big city, Cal heads home, but things don’t always turn out as planned.

Tanya Martin never quite forgave her best friend for leaving, but she moved on and made a life for herself. A PE teacher and athlete in her own right, Tanya’s life was shaped around the gym her father owned. When Tanya learns the gym is at risk, her life is turned upside down. Desperate to find a way to save the gym, she’ll do almost anything to make it happen, include partnering with the one man who broke her heart.

"Running Interference" is an upbeat sports romance with well-defined characters and an interesting take on the sports theme. The main characters share a past that holds memories and passion neither truly ever let go, and that shared history shapes the characters actions and decisions.

The story, while predictable, is readable and entertaining. While steamy enough to keep the reader reading, the plot could use a touch more girth. The characters are well fleshed-out but the plot lacks in substance and plausibility. The reader will be taken on a joyful ride through the characters' passion, but at times will wonder how they got there. All that said, the plot weaknesses are forgivable for those who love both sports and romance.
