Poppy Prince is the girl no one saw in school and the woman no one can love now. To get revenge on her ex-husband for cheating on her, she wants to leave a bag of dog poo on his front porch. She’s almost able to achieve this until her arch-nemesis finds her and stops her. Her arch-nemesis, Deputy Chuck Duke, has been a thorn in her side since he stood her up in high school. He’s always pushing her buttons, and now he’s acting differently—he’s standing up for her and beating up jerks in her bar, he’s riding to the rescue when her house is set on fire, he’s not acting like his usual self. Maybe he’s not so bad after all.

Readers, be prepared to finish this book in one go. The sassiness of Poppy paired with the unending sarcasm of Chuck will have you laughing until tears run down your face. The way they bicker and faux insult each other, while also falling into lust, then love, is so fun to read and imagine. Finding Chuck sexy and irresistible is a fun process to follow with Poppy. It takes her by surprise, and she fights it as long as she can. The fighting it is the best part! This book is full of colorful and supporting characters. Poppy’s cousins are a hoot and make the bar scenes so much fun that readers will wish they had a neighborhood bar like Poppy’s in their life. This fun and endearing romance will stay with readers long after they’ve finished reading it.
