CHICK-LIT:  Emma Wallace is determined to prove she has what it takes to make her design business a success, and if she can do a bit of matchmaking on the side, then even better - regardless of whether her best friend Will Knight thinks her plans will be successful. Determined to show that she too can be as likeable as Jillian, the new designer on the scene, Emma attempts to reinvent herself with hilarious results. Between designing an old house for a competition and matchmaking her assistant, Emma has no time for love of her own. But when Jillian sets her sights on Will, Emma will have to make a decision about whether preserving her friendship with Will is worth losing a chance at love forever.

A modern retelling of Austen’s “Emma”, this third book in the “Austen’s Inspirations” series gives Emma a job as an interior designer and Will at an investment firm.  While this retelling has a lot in common with the original version, Emma comes off as flakier and a great deal more helpless in this version, as she lacks even basic knowledge in running her business for someone who is supposedly talented. Still, there are several humorous sections that make up for the lack of originality and the convenient ending. The romance itself moves at a steady pace and lovers of Austen will still undoubtedly find this an interesting read.
