Dogs being dumped and others being abused has Harland County’s Sheriff itching to catch the lunatics running a dog-fighting ring. He answers a call for trespassing and finds the local animal lover/vet tech/PITA (pain in the…) Lyndsey. She has found a dog without water, obviously dehydrated and she is not leaving until she knows he is ok.

Cassandra Brown has just come from the reading of her grandmother's will. She is flabbergasted! Gran has stipulated that she must get married within six months in order to inherit Gran's home — otherwise the house goes to her cousin who lives in Nevada. Gran's house has been the only “home” she has ever known. Her parents were both doctors and worked in third-world countries.
