The main storyline takes place on the Isle of Mull in Scotland in 1273. It is a time of political unrest and upheaval, and Thorburn MacDougall, the Gallóglaigh Constable (the Gallóglaigh are a band of warriors tasked with finding criminals, similar to a modern-day police force), has his hands full trying to quell the tensions.

HISTORICAL: Henry Eldrick, the Earl of Huntley, was ignored his whole life. He had a ‘perfect’ older brother who was given all of the love his parents had to give. Henry was raised by others, and told often that he was useless. Emmagene Stitch, 28, is a spinster.

Jake Quin has been seen as a screw-up his whole life. Now, a bar co-owner/studio musician, he tries to follow his dreams onto the stage of rock and roll. When he finally gets a call from Gracefall, the heavy metal band, he can finally prove everyone in his life wrong and become a lead guitarist on the big stage. The only catch is his competition for the position.
