Gwynn Powell has been offered a second chance – a nice farm in small town, a job she could enjoy, and a resolution to her marriage (good or bad, it doesn’t matter, as long as she is sure of herself). But, things are not what they appear – it turns out, she bought only half of the farm, her job turned up to be a prank, and she has a roommate - of sorts, one, Slate Peck.
Rusty Lane comes from a trucking family. Her daddy, brothers, and first two husbands were all truckers. The men in her family treat the women like second-class citizens, and her ex-husbands didn’t treat her any better. That’s why she wants nothing to do with truck drivers ever again. Rusty is done looking for love, but when she meets Dusty Doucet there is an instant attraction between them.
Alice has been taking the long way home lately. She was lured to this neighborhood by the haunting music coming out of “his” window. She knew her friends would scoff at her for even being around Keith with his dyed hair and painted fingernails but she just can’t keep away from his riveting music.
Cherry is a single mother, doing everything in her power to raise her son well. Things aren’t all that bad, she has a roof over her head and a steady job in a hotel. But things don’t look so good after their houseboat sinks. Now she’s basically homeless, and there’s a social worker sniffing around her.
