I'm Crowdfunded With Amazon! A Personal Look at the Pros and Cons

Have you heard about Amazon’s new Kindle Scout Publishing Program? Actually, it has replaced the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards, and in essence gives many more authors a chance at winning a good deal with Amazon, including a $1500 advance. I discovered the program when Amazon sent me an e-mail in October. I spent a while thinking about it before I actually signed up. After first watching the site for a while, on November 30, 2014, I took the leap and submitted my edited book, A HIGHLAND KNIGHT’S DESIRE. It took about fifteen minutes to load the manuscript, the blurb, a catchy one-liner and my cover up on their site and voilà, my campaign was launched. That’s when the work began. I was live and nervous…really super nervous because I already had a bunch of books out there, and if this thing didn’t work for me, I’d be pretty darned embarrassed.
