You Can't Judge a Book By The Author's Name

S.L.
Carpenter

As you walk down the aisles of your ultimate sanctuary—the local bookstore—you find the Romance section and you are immediately inundated by thousands of images. Each one slightly different. Some are scary, some have people on them, some a single figure. Many have muscular male chests and you are suddenly blind to both the title and the author of those books, because the hunk on the front cover has perfect abs and tanned skin. You pause to appreciate the photographic technique and admire the way the artist has balanced the text within the image. (At least that’s what you tell the woman who ran into you from behind when you stopped dead in your tracks to drool for a moment.)It’s an ideal cover, representing the wonderfully sexy story that intrigues your imagination. Yes, finally, the title pops out on the cover and you read it, "Blah Blah Blah". (I can't use an actual title, because that would be wrong, so just roll with me here, people). Curious now, you find the author’s name—S.L. Carpenter. (I know, I lied, shameless promo, but subtle.) An author you haven't heard of—someone new. Who is she? She...I said she, because we all know that sexy romances are written by women. Right?
