Bobby Alvarez is on leave from Delta Force Operations after a fellow soldier was killed while on his watch. He and his “lucky” sixth sense have failed him and he is now suffering from mild case of amnesia. Melanie Mackenzie overheard her boss, a powerful senator and her best friend’s father, admit to murder and now she is on the run from the hit men the senator has hired to eliminate her. She does her best to stay one step ahead of the bad guys, but it is becoming alarmingly apparent that she needs assistance. Bobby offers it and she grudgingly accepts, but only until she thinks she is safe. Although Melanie trusts no one but Bobby, he has a secret of his own - one that might tear their budding relationship asunder before it even has a chance to blossom.

Virginia Kelly continues her “Florida Sands Romantic Suspense” series with a story of murder, suspense, intrigue, fear, lust, friendship, and love. Although this book could be read as a stand-alone it would make better reading if the series is read in order. The cast of characters is unique but some of them rely on previous books to describe them, so there is a loss of information that readers may find confusing. The plot contains excellent twists and turns and will keep readers on the edge of their seats. “Take a Chance on Me” is an exciting and fast paced book that readers will enjoy and will ask for more.
