Suspense-Thriller

Piper Cooke is working for the Dixon City Police Department as a sketch artist when Detective Chris Harrison calls for her help interviewing Beth McDonald who has escaped an abduction by the Dixon Demon.  Beth is in shock, unwilling, or possibly unable, to speak with the detectives about what happened.  Piper helps Beth locate the Dixon Demon through a surprising and unconventional method.  Piper continues to get into the Dixon Demon’s head and the heads of his victims, resulting in a lucrative career change for Piper.

The fresh, creative writing here is fantastic!  Each character is unique, vibrant, and explodes on the page.  The Dixon Demon shows himself as the sociopath he is.  There are many insights into the psyches of both the Demno and Piper.  The reader is led to truly understand their motivations as well as the internal and external conflicts surrounding and connecting them.  Piper enjoys a unique relationship with her gay psychiatrist/best friend/father figure Detective Harrison. The reader may be confused at the start of Piper’s episodes.  That initial confusion dissipates, however, as the book continues.  One surviving victim reacts in a way that doesn’t seem plausible at first glance, but as the story progresses, a reason is given although the reason seems weak.  Though there are head-hopping and minor typos in the latter part of the book, overall, readers of mystery, thrillers, and suspense will not be disappointed.  The writing is phenomenal and creates a vivid, colorful, and graphic picture of the characters, places, and events of this psychic thriller.
