The world building is amazing, and Ms. Davies does an awesome job of catching one up to speed on all the intricate details of this universe, without slowing down the plot or character development. The second book in the Rise of Orion series, it can also be read as a stand-alone and will definitely make readers want to go back and read book one! Ella and Marcus are both strong characters written with a healthy balance of strengths and flaws, making them so real the reader is instantly caught up in their pain and sorrow. Grab your tissue boxes, it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster with this one! Despite the ups and downs, the story ends leaving the reader completely satisfied, yet also clamoring for the quick release of book three!
