Summer Magic (The Thorne Witches Book 1)

T.M.
Cromer
Genre:
Paranormal

Summer and her sisters are witches, but the townspeople of Leiper’s Fork merely see them as eccentric. Summer runs an animal sanctuary which gets her in trouble with local law enforcement, Cooper Carlyle. This time, her elephant has decided to swim in the sheriff’s pool. She has rescued a chimpanzee that is extremely protective of her. When Coop begins bawling her out about the elephant, Monty, the chimp, takes a baseball bat to the sheriff’s vehicle. Despite his frustrations with Summer, Coop is in love with this zany blonde. Summer isn’t your typical witch. Her magic goes wrong most of the time. When she curses, she sneezes and then a whole host of rodents appear, much to her chagrin.

“Summer Magic” is an entertaining novel which will keep readers laughing from the first page to the end. The animals are as funny as the human characters. The plot is intricate, and the family tree is twisted in this simple, uncomplicated story. T. M. Cromer is an artist at making the many characters individuals with their own quirks. Unfortunately, none of the characters have any real depth. Summer and Coop have a relationship that is too on again, off again which gets old and repetitive. One feels bereft at the end of the novel with the many loose ends left hanging. The reader will get a chuckle when searching for chapter thirteen in this witty book about witches. “Summer Magic” is a fun springboard for the Thorne Witches Series.
