GASLAMP FANTASY:  Effie of Glen Coe is fey who is summoned by the Fey Finder Fergus Alpin to prove a Spae Wife innocent of any wrong doing. The Spae Wife is accused of bringing forth wulvers, creatures smaller than wolves with fox ears and the blunted snout of a boar with fangs. Effie proves her innocence. Effie gains some notoriety as The Green Lady, when she takes part in the procession through the highlands. Her goal? To get a treaty passed to allow the humans and the fey to live peacefully together rather than the alternative – that the fey be removed to an island, similar to what Britain did with Australia.

“Oak Seer: A Fey Matter Novel” is an interesting study in the prejudices between humans and the fey. The fey are hated for their differences, whereas their differences could be used to great benefit for both human and fey.  Lukewarm characters star in this confusing story of strife. The storyline is difficult to follow, and the pace is painstakingly slow in the first half of the novel. New creatures are introduced into the story with no physical description, and they add nothing to the story, except to possibly add some atmosphere.  Effie and Jack Canonbie are like a breath of fresh air in this novel with their cunning and brilliant personalities. One finds oneself rooting for Effie’s success throughout this thought-provoking story.
