CHICK-LIT:  Two stories. Two cities. Two people looking for love in all the wrong places. Richard is a rich New Yorker looking to find a wife after the failure of his first marriage. Sassy Londoner Pip doesn’t have any luck when it comes to dating. What she does have is the gift of seeing ghosts, and it’s Pip’s job to help them into the afterlife, passing on messages from the recently departed to the living. This constantly gets in the way of her finding a true love connection however, and things get seriously messy when she must deliver a message to Richard from his departed father. Constantly being brought together and then torn apart, Richard must figure out where his feelings truly lie while Pip must fight not only to protect her heart but the life of another.

With a love story to die for, readers will climb right on the crazy ride that is  Pip and Richard’s love story. Despite the interesting nature of the main characters, other relationships in the book lack depth. Without much backstory for the characters, some relationships seem forced and unrealistic, including the one between two of Richard’s friends. Pip and Richard’s relationship seems a bit sudden — he kisses her when they first meet without more than a few words passing between them. On top of this, the story switches point of view quite a bit during chapters making it difficult to know who exactly is feeling/saying what. Even with these issues, however, the book does an excellent job of creating sympathetic characters, thereby keeping readers engaged until the very end.
