Genre:
Paranormal

Alex Layne has seen many things as an Emergency Room doctor, but she has never encountered a bona fide vampire before. Until an unconscious man is brought to the ER in need of her life-saving skills. Alex realizes she must act fast to save her patient and keep him safe. Acting on instinct, she takes him home to keep him from those who would harm him. Bhric Tarakesh knows that he’s in danger, but his past is a mysterious fog. His gratitude to Alex is soon eclipsed by his growing attraction to the beautiful physician. The two forge a mysterious bond that will soon have them defying the forces that threaten to rip their growing love asunder.

“Ice Warrior” is an interesting exploration of the world of paranormal creatures. The authors do a good job of situating the reader into Bhric’s world with descriptive prose that is easy to read.  The treatment of Scottish dialogue leaves something to be desired, as its use is inconsistent and awkward and interferes with the flow of the narrative. The plot of the story is formulaic and as such holds no real surprises for the reader. Although light on character development, the supernatural world created by the authors is original and complex. As such, it successfully captures and holds the reader’s interest and is a refreshingly original addition to the paranormal romance genre.
