Genre:
Paranormal

As carefully as Lyla's parents are arranging her marriage, so Lyla is planning her escape.  She leaves her world with only her necklace as a remembrance.  After experiencing the human world, Lyla realizes the scope of what she has been missing. The more time she spends there, the more she recognizes that she is not the only one there from the magical world. As time goes on Lyla realizes she is in danger and that her necklace is the key — and could change everything if the wrong person gets a hold of it. Will she be able to stay away from her abusive past or will she be forced to return?

Set in the first person from several characters' points of view, "Frost on my Pillow" is an exciting paranormal romance with many twists and turns. Lyla is a likeable character, although she seems way out of her league. Although noted as paranormal romance, it could be considered a young adult novel due to the ages of the characters. There were many questionable sexual situations in the novel, notable given the genre. What takes away from this book is the grammar — there are issues that make the story feel staggered and jumpy, and  difficult to follow. That aside, the characters are compelling, with promising world building and paves the way for the rest of the series. All in all, a good read.
